I thought I saw it tonight
The perfect life that would make me smile
I tried not to blink
Scared it would disappear
I beheld the beauty of what I had pursued
For years I searched, hungered, desired
With parched throat and dry eyes
I pushed on because I’d heard a smile would cure my woes
I thought I saw it tonight
But it was my imagination working overtime
The sadness of my situation made me smile
Why then am I still surrounded by woes?
